Reflections: One Year Anniversary of AmericanSyrians

AmericanSyrians.com was registered and launched on April 19, 2011. We hoped we would never reach the one year anniversary mark and never have to actually post updates this far removed from the beginning of the Syrian rally for freedom. Alas, here we are. Thirty million visitors later. Thank you all for following us and reading us! Keep spreading the word about the humanitarian and criminal disaster in Syria. The Syrian people need our help. Elected officials need to hear from us. Syria needs help. Syria needs an intervention in the worst way.

To date:

15,000+ Killed
1000 Tortured to Death
200,000 Disappeared into the torture chambers and prisons
200,000 Displaced Refugees
1000 Children Killed
2000 Women Killed
70,000 Missing
200 Children Tortured to Death
600 Women Tortured to Death

While the world continues to discuss, chat, and pass endless resolutions. THIS IS A MASSACRE! Kaddafi threatened a massacre, and we removed him from power without a single US soldier on the ground!

Syria's Assad is not threatening to massacre his people. He actually is MASSACRING them! And all we can do is wax poetic and philosophize about this miniscule problem.

President Obama, the blood of Syria's children is on your hands. Every day that goes by, every moment that you waste, every second that you take... innocent Syrians are being brutally killed, raped, tortured, electrocuted, decapitated, humiliated, killed, and abused in the most creative, inventive, and bizarre ways humanity has ever seen. What a shame. This is a blemish on our history that the world will not forget. Nor forgive.

To our Syrian brethren, we apologize that we have not been more effective in bringing about an end to this woeful, miserable, tragic, and unnecessary situation! We pray that you will have it in your hearts to forgive us, for we won't forgive ourselves. We have failed you. But we will continue to work hard to remove this misery from your lives.

We can never give you back your mother, your sister, your father, your uncle, your grandfather. We can never repay you for your sacrifice. Your blood. Your tears. Your orphans. Your handicapped bodies. Your missing limbs. Your emaciated genitals. Your virginity. Your childhood. Your innocence. Your country. All of this has been destroyed by this vicious monster of a dictator.

You will stay strong! You will be steadfast! You will carry on the call for freedom and democracy! You will overcome! You will win! And most importantly, you will REBUILD!

A Letter A Day for Syria Campaign

by John Mak 7.

2012

A Letter A Day

We are launching a new campaign called "A Letter A Day for Syria". Every day, before you sleep at night, send a letter to your congressional leaders and president Obama urging them to help the Syrian people. This is the most effective campaign and will get the most results. Our goal is to have 2 million letters sent to congress by Memorial Day 2012!

How?

Register now with Congress.org website. This will save all of your information, and you can quickly send a letter every day without having to login, edit your information, and reuse it.

They count how many letters are sent on each topic and that influences the decision makers. "Senator, we got another 15 on Syria."

$12M from US is a band aid, not a solution

by John Mak 2.
April
2012

President Obama is pledging to send $12 million dollars in US aid to the the Syrian people.  He is calling it "non-lethal" and humanitarian aid. Perhaps someone can explain this to us, why are we sending them $12 million dollars to help treat those being injured and maimed by Assad. Why aren't we working to eliminate Assad? Does this make any sense? It's sbsolutely absurd.

The Obama administration has a confounding, twisted, confusing, illogical, and disturbing foreign policy agenda that is complicated and contradictory. Rather than put forth a solution to get rid of the killer, we are going to allow him to keep killing, but we are going to send in medications to those who got injured and aren't dead yet?

Does this make any sense? Is this what America does? Is this what we stand for? When America decides to act, we don't do something half assed. This is a quarter assed way of "helping". It's embarrassing the United States abroad in a region where should not be trying to knowingly insult the people's collective intelligence.

Female Detainee Tells about Prison Torture in Syria

by John Mak 24.
March
2012

A letter written with the blood and tears of a female detainee in Syria's prison, translated by Sumayya...

We plead with the world, rescue us immediately.

How many letters have we written? Written with our groans and our tears…

We’ve sent them with the breeze, in hopes that they’d reach someone who would listen to them…

But we were unable to send our letters on paper, and so we sufficed to send our groans…

And we shrieked into the darkness of the night…

Honorable President Obama

Obama Syria

President Obama, the world needs your leadership in a bad way! The Syrian People are begging for our help!

Honorable President Obama,

The time has come to intervene in Syria. Nearly 12,000 lives have been lost. Over 1000 children have been slaughtered. And another 220,000 have disappeared and been detained inexplicably.

President Clinton regrets not acting sooner in Rwanda. Nearly 800,000 innocent civilians lost their lives in Rwanda. All it took was a small United States presence and the disaster was over.

The world took too long and was too timid in its response to Bosnia and Serbia in the early 1990s. How quickly we forget! Assad is committing worse crimes and on an even grander scale.

Assad's Emails

by Omar 15.
March
2012

Behind the ignorant façade the Assad regime displays, there seems to be careful planning and precise execution. Time and time again, Bashar Al Assad denied and continues to deny the fact that there is any uprising occurring in Syria. These newly discovered emails reveal the very hypocrisy that the regime symbolizes. Thousands of people are dead, hundreds are dying by the day, and the Assad regime treats this tragedy like some sort of action movie. Sitting in the director’s seat is Bashar al Assad with an expansive film committee supporting him and advising him on the best method to take in order to convey their message.

That message, as everyone knows, is the “internationally sponsored armed gangs causing instability” conspiracy. Fawas Akhras, Assad’s son in law, plays a prominent role in attempting to maintain that argument, sending him helpful emails and playful jokes here and there. Yet the international community is still not convinced. What more proof is needed to come to the obvious conclusion: Assad and his sphere of influence are attempting to maintain their personal power at the expense of thousands of lives.

Response to Kofi Annan meeting with Assad

by Omar 15.
March
2012

Ruthlessly slaughtered, living in a perpetual state of fear, threatened by a murderous regime, the Syrian people beg for help. While these events unfold, however, Kofi Annan sits with the butcher himself, Bashar al Assad, sipping coffee and discussing unrealistic solutions to the problem. Yet that in itself is a lie, for Assad clearly stated that no solution can be reached while there are armed terrorist gangs destabilizing the nation. Despite all of this, Annan is “optimistic.” One actually comes to wonder what world Annan is living in.

Perhaps it is the world the Syrian regime has brilliantly constructed – the world of "armed gangs", "international conspiracies", "terrorist agendas", and the list goes on. In truth, Assad and his government sound like a broken record, repeatedly uttering the same excuses. Yet it is truly disappointing that the former UN Attorney General failed to see through these lies. The death count rises by the day, yet he is "optimistic." Is he optimistic about executions and massacres? Yes, the Syrian people do want peace, but an artificial peace under a totalitarian government is definitely not an option. Assad lost his legitimacy, as Secretary of State Hillary Clinton pointed out months ago, but he continues to assert his authority in brutal ways.
