Female Detainee Tells about Prison Torture in Syria

by John Mak March 24, 2012

A letter written with the blood and tears of a female detainee in Syria's prison, translated by Sumayya...

We plead with the world, rescue us immediately.

How many letters have we written? Written with our groans and our tears…

We’ve sent them with the breeze, in hopes that they’d reach someone who would listen to them…

But we were unable to send our letters on paper, and so we sufficed to send our groans…

And we shrieked into the darkness of the night…

Honorable President Obama

Obama Syria

President Obama, the world needs your leadership in a bad way! The Syrian People are begging for our help!

Honorable President Obama,

The time has come to intervene in Syria. Nearly 12,000 lives have been lost. Over 1000 children have been slaughtered. And another 220,000 have disappeared and been detained inexplicably.

President Clinton regrets not acting sooner in Rwanda. Nearly 800,000 innocent civilians lost their lives in Rwanda. All it took was a small United States presence and the disaster was over.

The world took too long and was too timid in its response to Bosnia and Serbia in the early 1990s. How quickly we forget! Assad is committing worse crimes and on an even grander scale.

Nightmare Escape from Syria

by Sana March 14, 2012

My parents fled Syria in 1980 to escape the prevalent political persecution at the time. Their first stop as fugitives was to Jordan, where they lived in a three-bedroom apartment with two other families. Despite the instability and uncertainty in their lives, they were consumed with a profound sense of gratitude to be alive. While their circumstances were difficult, my mother often reminisces about her days in Jordan with a smile. She remembers the graciousness of her friends and the undeniable unity she felt with other Syrians who had fled from their homeland. When my mother became pregnant with me, my parents moved to Saudi Arabia where my father had found a job. For the first time since their escape, my parents no longer had to worry about affording basic necessities such as food and clothes.

Women Raped in Syria, Husband forced to watch

by John Mak March 14, 2012

A new torture and humiliation tactic being reported by Syrians, is that the women would be gang raped and the husband would be forced to watch. If he tries to look away or close his eyes, he gets beaten. This has been reported by many who have escaped. Another similar method is torturing children in front of their parents and forcing them to watch. Including, burning the children alive. As the world watches and debates.

Obama Lying about Assad's Strength

by John Mak March 12, 2012

The Obama administration is "politicizing intelligence". They are releasing intelligence that supports their stance on Syria. They have released intelligence reports stating that "Assad is firmly in control of Syria" and that "Assad's inner circle is standing firm"and that "Assad commands afformidable 330,000 army that was built to fight Israel" in an attempt to keep the general public in line with the current White House stance on Syria.

Anyone who knows Syria, knows that eighty percent of Assad's army is composed of Sunni footsoldiers waiting for any opportunity to defect, over 100,000 soldiers have alredy defected, and nearly every part of Syria with the exception of small parts of Aleppo and Damascus are out of his control. Over 90% of Syria is no longer under Assad's control, and the most important central parts of Aleppo and Damascus have already had large protests and are boiling with pain. Assad's rule is coming to an end, the question is just hw much pain and suffering is the world willing to tolerate.

Why I am damn proud to be Syrian

by Ammar February 24, 2012

Growing up the son of Syrian exiles is a unique experience that is unknown to the non-Syrian community; it’s a “smell but don’t touch” policy.

Syria to me is like this mythical land of fantasies where everyone around me would tell me how great it was, but it was something I only dreamt of. The other Syrian kids would be able to go visit, spend time with their extended family, travel the great cities of Syria, indulge in the delicious foods, and just generally have a blast there. But why not me?

Conservatives call on Obama to intervene in Syria

by John Mak February 18, 2012

Fifty-six leading conservative foreign-policy experts wrote an open letter Friday to U.S. President Barack Obama calling on him to directly aid the Syrian opposition and protect the lives of Syrian civilians.

"For eleven months now, the Syrian people have been dying on a daily basis at the hands of their government as they seek to topple the brutal regime of Bashar al-Assad.  As the recent events in the city of Homs-in which hundreds of Syrians have been killed in a matter of days-have shown, Assad will stop at nothing to maintain his grip on power," wrote the experts.
