My Letter To President Obama

by Ammar May 9, 2011

Honorable President Obama:

I know you receive millions of messages but I hope you will read this one.

I am writing to you today about the situation in Syria, the land of my forefathers.

As you are well aware, the Assad regime is engaged in a brutal crackdown on pro-democracy advocates. I have also heard and read your statements on the situation there and I agree with everything you have said.

However, I feel you have not gone far enough. We are fighting a war (through NATO)in Libya based on the assumption that Ghadaffi was going to go house to house, door to door, room to room, and kill people. Well, Assad is already doing that in Syria and more people have died in the last 7 weeks than those that died in the Egypt uprisings.

I don't understand the reluctancy to call a spade a spade. Assad is NOT a reformer; he is a killer like his father. It's time we put an end to this madness, you need to tell him "it’s time to GO;” just like you did with Mubarak and Ghaddafi. He is just like them and probably even worse.

I know Syria doesn't have oil, and doesn't have a peace agreement with Israel, but the people of Syria are a great people who love American ideals. I have never been to Syria and I wish, that with your leadership, Syria can one day be free, and I can visit my grandfather's grave and read him a prayer. I wish to meet all my cousins that I have never seen. I wish to go to my grandfather’s olive garden, and run my fingers through its dirt. I wish to see the Citadel of Aleppo that holds great history in its stones. I wish to shop the Hamadiya bazaar in Damascus. I wish to hear the water wheels of Hama that fed water to inhabitants of thousands of years. And finally, I wish to visit the city of Daraa to find out what they eat that makes them the bravest, most courageous, people on earth!

Will you help my wishes come true?

 Thank you dearly,

Aleppo | Damascus | Obama | Syria

Invitation of the Syrian people to the world, to sever ties to the Syrian regime ...!!!!

We call on Western governments and the neighboring countries to cut all the ties that linked with this criminal regime ... Administration stressed its sanctions against some staff of the system but refuses to invite Assad to resign, contrary to what I did with President Hosni Mubarak and Gaddafi ...!!!! Therefore we demand that calls for Bashar al-Assad to give up power after the heinous massacres committed against the Syrian people ....!! We also call upon the Arab League should not be blind see and call to deal with the Syrian Revolution also dealt with the Libyan Revolution ...!!!! We know the silence of Arab States about the massacres in Syria is that Syria is very close to the non-elected Arab rulers who fear it will be a harbinger of the fall of the Assad Bsagothm.

I wish one day you can visit and see Damascus the oldest city in the world,  see the fruits tree in spring and smell its blossom.  I wish the world will hear our voices, and can help the people who they starving them so we can tell them how sorroy we are that we are not brave as them and we need to learn from them.

Please reconsider the current logo, ie, American flag on the Syrian flag. It might be counterproductive.

I would add to the letter the following statement:

Mr. President, try not to act as President of the US nation at least for one day, so you can take a decent decision toward the massacres happing in Syria against the Innocent and Unarmed People.
Just be a person without Political view, just be a person for the Children and Women that being SLAUGHTERED.

A Human Being

Many thanks (mille merci).
I live outside syria since I'm 18th. From 1980 until now, when I say that I'm coming from syria, people watch me and say "poor guy, your country is a terrorist state!". I hope that after Assad(s) regimes they will change theïr opinion: most people in Syria are very nice.
